End of Year Trip!

Here is the information for Moody Gardens:
Congratulations on completing this year with Spring Branch Girls Choir!
To celebrate we will be taking a day trip to Moody Gardens on May 19th.
The trip will include the following itinerary:
• Arrive at Northbrook Middle School – 8:00 am
• Leave for Galveston – 8:30
• Arrive at 9:45
• Aquarium tour 10:00-11:00
• Rainforest Adventure – 11:00-12:00
• Lunch 12:30-1:30 (Buffet!)
• Boat Tour – 2:00-3:00
• Head home at 3:00
• Pick up at Northbrook Middle School – 4:15-4:30.
We will be covering the cost of this trip. It will be first come first serve. There are 18 tickets. We do not need chaperones. If you would like to accompany us on this trip, you will have to purchase your own tickets for our four events and lunch when we get to Moody Gardens.
The form will be uploaded tomorrow around midday. The form must be attached to an email, signed and filled in. The first 18 forms will be taken.

“HOW CAN I PREPARE FOR THE AUDITION?”
For the audition you should be prepared to:
• sing “America” (My Country ‘tis of Thee)
• sing the round “Brother John” (Are You Sleeping)
• echo sing small melodic phrases
• read text, and vocalize.
It is not a frightening experience and should only last about five minutes. The directors are just trying to be certain of your singing ability.
You also need a completed recommendation form:
• take a blank SBGC recommendation form to your classroom teacher (NOT YOUR MUSIC TEACHER)
• ask them to fill out the form and send the form to Elizabeth Snelling at Northbrook Middle School or email it to her at elizabeth.snelling@springbranchisd.com
Military Pictures

Do you have family members who have been or are in the military?
We would like to honor these men and women by putting their pictures in a slide show when we sing the Armed Forces Medley.
Please email pictures to Elizabeth.Snelling@springbranchisd.com with the subject title “USO Pictures”.
In the email please tell me:
his/her name, rank, branch of military, and how they are related to your daughter, your daughter’s name.
We hope to have quite a few. If you have multiple family members, we would like to honor them all. Please send them to me by Friday 3/16/2018.

Due to conflicts and events out of our control, SBGC will have to move Pizza Theater this year.
We are having to move locations too.
Please take note of all the new information below.
Location: Stratford High School (same as last year)
Tuesday 3/20 – Dress Rehearsal 4:30 – 6:30 (All SBGC girls)
Thursday 3/22 – Special Act Rehearsal 4:30 – 6:30 (Special Acts, 7th grade, and 8th grade)
Friday 3/23 – CONCERT. Call time at 5:00 p.m. Pizza served to parents at 6:00, Concert starts at 7:00 p.m.
If there is any conflict, especially with special acts, I need to know ASAP.
If you have already bought your tickets and now cannot attend, please let us know so that we can arrange a refund for you.
The tickets will be honored for the 23rd, even though they state March 9th. You will not have to purchase new tickets.
Again, this was out of our control, and we ask for your flexibility and understanding in this change.

Pizza Theater Auditions!
January 4th, 2018
If you would like to audition for a special act in this year’s Pizza Theater, please prepare a 3-4 minute song that was made famous in the late 1930’s early 1940’s World War 2 era. It needs to be memorized, choreographed (doesn’t have to have a dance, but must be somewhat staged), and fully prepared. The competition gets tougher every year, so the more prepared you are the better. If you have a costume already, please come dressed as you will be if you make it. If you are waiting to order the costume after results are posted, please bring a picture of what you have in mind.
If you are chosen to be a small act, it is at the directors’ discretion to change something within the act. You must attend all extra rehearsals for Special Acts if chosen (Thursday Feb 8th, Thursday March 8th) . If you do not show for the extra rehearsals, your act may be removed from the line-up. All situations will be addressed individually.
Songs you may *not* audition with are: Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy, Sing Sing Sing, It don’t Mean A Thing If It Aint Got That Swing, As Time Goes By, Armed Forces Songs.

NATIONAL ANTHEM UPDATE
November 8th, 2017
THURSDAY! NOVEMBER 9th!
We will be singing the National Anthem at Tully Stadium (1050 Dairy Ashford, Houston, Texas). Please meet at the Southwest entrance (Dairy Ashford side, closest to the Coliseum/Stratford side).
We will meet at 6:15 with the game starting at 7:00.
This has been changed since the last email went out.
Please wear Blue SBGC tshirt, blue jeans, and sneakers. Hair should be tied back.
Parents: Please stay to watch the girls perform. You will be able to enter with us to watch the anthem. If you wish to stay for the game (Stratford Home game), you will have to pay for a ticket, however your singer will be able to stay for free.
When we are done singing, the girls will walk back to our “warm-up” area and you will be able to go home. Please check out with your daughter’s director.
Again, the time has been changed! Call time is an hour later!

New APP!

E-Blast Text Proposal:
New for Spring Branch Girl’s Choir Families!!
I’m excited to be launching a new communications tool for all SBGC families! This year we are using an app that will allow you to keep all of your information in one place, has a calendar feature, chat options, and more! Moving forward, we will be using TeamApp to communicate with parents and choir members.
In order to access TeamApp, start by going to your mobile app store and downloading the program. The logo you are looking for is below. Once you have downloaded the app itself, you need to search for Spring Branch Girl’s Choir. You can spell it out, or do a search for SBGC, both should find us! To confirm, our page header looks like the Header above. For those who use business phones and are not allowed to install independent apps, you can always still access the information via www.teamapp.com. Set up your account and look for SBGC just as you would on a mobile device.
Once you have found our page, request access to the choir you are in, and an admin will approve you. Once you have access to the app, you will be able to see a news section, which will keep you up to date on new developments and information. You will also see your event page, which has all our concerts and events already uploaded and includes location maps. Please use the chat feature to ask questions or request information from either the full group or any one individual. There is also a document section which will hold information for you (such as copies of the handouts) and a photo gallery where you can upload photos of your daughter enjoying all her SBGC activities!!
